Why the sudden change of heart?
by megs inafter reading two consecutive posts about people returning to the fold, i have to ask a question... on some level, be it conscious or otherwise, have world events of the past year caused some to reconsider that we are in the "end times"?.

Change of Heart
by evergreen ini am writing in to say that i have come to a decision to return to the meetings at my local kingdom hall.
after much soul searching and careful thought, i feel happy with my decision.. i have decided to submit this on the jwdf to prove to god that i am genuine in my sincerity towards him and to show repentance for the things i have said in the past.
the reasons as to why i have decided to return are as follows;.

I believe that even though you are going back, you are spiritually free now - you are one who 'worships in spirit and truth', sometimes God keeps us 'waiting' in places for a reason - maybe to learn, maybe to benefit others, who knows? Maybe you just left too soon this time? Keep your eyes, mind and heart open to Him and He'll show you!

I'm not convinced that the findings can be that clear-cut.
There are rich people who are stupid too, and there are some incredibly bright poor people - my dad was such, grew up homeless, virtually peniless but like Sylvia, he shone at school - so much that he was offered a scholarship with the top university in his home country.
I think there are more factors to be considered, largely an individual's capacity to cope with stress, which I don't believe is solely down to economic/social status - perhaps Maslow's theory in Simon's post is a good measure. People from all walks of life often don't make it past the 2nd or 3rd stage.

by TheOldHippie ini read your posts, and the posts of others, and posts at other sites - posts that are full of research material of the sort you will have to spend the whole night going thru and trying to remotely get a grip of.. so i wonder - just how difficult do you - or others - feel that christianity, christian faith, "salvation" is meant to be?
if you consider a namib desert pygme, a bhutan sherpa, a yunnan farmer, an andes mine worker, an amazonian jungle dweller, an indian without caste, a big city sidewalk dweller - just how hard can it be meant for him / her to grasp the gospel and gain hope of salvation?
what is demanded by the salt of the earth people?

Maybe a Bible verse which sums it up for me is this one from Micah 6:
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?

Yes, JW teaching does make a lot of sense - that's how I felt when I studied.
The problem is, they only show you the surface when you're studying. Once you're in, then they hit you with the more nasty stuff. I am so glad I spoke with an ex-JW and was pointed to this site.
If you want to spend the rest of your life conforming and performing for someone else, it might just be the right place for you. If however you prefer to think for yourself, then it most certainly won't be. Joining the JWs could cost you your life in more ways than one.

by Gill ini hope that this information will help some people who may not be aware that it is possible to prevent and fight flu with more 'natural' methods.. we experimented with this in our home this winter when flu was about.. four of us took the 'regime' of prevention.. two of us did not!.
the four who took the 'regime' did not even get a sniffle this winter.. the two who did not became very ill with flu, including myself, and my eldest developed life threatening complications to flu including pneumonia and asthma and she had had her flu vaccination.
she was sick for 3 weeks recovering from this and was lucky not to die!.

Trust me - it's not the human excrement fertilizer you need to worry about lol!
If tablets/capsules containing dried herbs etc aren't stored correctly - or if the herbs haven't been dried out enough before being turned into tablets/capsules, mycotoxins can flourish - and you really don't want poisoning by those
